Last Friday, Steve Kendrick, Laura Knauss and Brian Bell attend the San Dieguito Union High School District dedication for the latest middle school, Pacific Trails Middle School.
The new middle school is located on a eight-acre parcel adjoining the southeast corner of Canyon Crest Academy (CCA), a regional high school. The school site sits adjacent to a proposed City park. This complex high school, middle school and City park, became a true community asset. The Pacific Highlands Ranch site is designed to meet the District’s Educational Strategic Plan. The plan’s vision was to create flexible, adaptable facilities that encourage teaching and learning that is responsive to the needs of the user. The school accommodates small learning communities and has interactive public spaces. This facility has access to “anytime, anywhere” technology that expands the boundaries of the traditional classroom. The middle school was designed to meet CHPS Verified Status and takes full advantage of daylighting and natural ventilation.
