The Lionakis Foundation was established in 2009 as a charitable organization dedicated to philanthropy, giving back financial support and volunteerism to promote a better future for the communities in which we all live and work. The charitable organizations we give back to are held close to our employees’ hearts and are nominated and funded by them. Our first charitable organization we gave back to in 2022 was the River City Food Bank (RCFB).
"River City Food Bank’s (RCFB) mission is to alleviate hunger in Sacramento County by providing healthy, emergency food and other assistance, offering referrals and promoting self-sufficiency through a variety of support services."
In April, The Lionakis Foundation hosted RCFB for a Lunch and Learn–Lionakis’ first in-person Lunch and Learn since the beginning of Covid-19. RCFB came and shared a bit about their mission and services with the staff at Lionakis. Their programs serve low-income families, children, seniors, individuals who are medically fragile, refugees/asylum-seekers, individuals experiencing homelessness, the working poor, and individuals with disabilities. RCFB serves all people experiencing food insecurity regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, and background in Sacramento County (no zip code restrictions). In 2021, RCFB served more than 2.2 million pounds of food to 206,523 people facing hunger.
At the conclusion of the Lunch and Learn, the Lionakis Foundation presented RCFB with a check for $5,000 to contribute to their valuable mission.
"Their philosophy has and will always be that “No one should be hungry.”
Over the past few years, Lionakis staff have volunteered at RCFB assisting with various tasks at their locations, serving food to the community, and helping remodel their facility.
