Nearly eight years later, the Learning Resource Center at Merced College is still a magnet for the campus with over 2.1 Million visitors since opening. The design of the building created a visible image and presence at the center of the campus by raising a vertical element to mark this “crossroad” at the center of the complex. The center includes a two story library, audio-visual repair and storage, with a central circulation desk, study/reading/meeting rooms and staff offices.
“The design of the interior of the building turned very large spaces into smaller useful areas that make students feel protected and important and that give staff room to work in a safe and comfortable manner.” – Dr. Susan Walsh, Director of the Learning Resources Center.
