California State University, Bakersfield Fine Arts Center
We provided space planning through construction phase services for this project. The 11,950 square foot Fine Arts Complex is the first building in the new humanities quadrant of the CSUB campus. The project also included a satellite central plant with 2-600 ton chillers and a 7,200 ton-hour chilled water thermal energy storage tank. Both projects featured visitor parking, as well as secured outdoor service yards. The indoor/outdoor studios are organized around a central courtyard with the ceramics, sculpture, and printing studios opening to a large covered service yard to the south. When combined with the service and courtyards, the usable space is doubled. All studios have extensive northern daylight, as well as shaded circulation provided by covered walkways. This project was designed to LEED Silver equivalent.
