Miwok Village Elementary School
The new Miwok Village Elementary School is approximately 62,000 square feet on a 10-acre campus. The campus was designed around the idea of a growing tree with a main walkway that runs through the entire campus and branches off into pathways leading to dual grade level buildings. The design team also worked with the Miwok tribe that previously occupied the land to honor the rich history of the site. Lionakis’ in-house graphic designers collaborated with tribe members to create murals and environmental graphics that highlighted tribal patterns, embraced native species, and showcased tribal practices such as acorn grinding and basket weaving. All themes and icons that embrace the Miwok tribe’s culture.
