New Susanville Courthouse
Lassen County was proud of their iconic historic courthouse, built in 1917, and wished to carry that idea of a civic icon and the embodiment of justice forward to the new courthouse. To achieve this we set out to create an iconic courthouse emblematic of transparency in the judicial system and justice under law. As a gesture toward transparency, the courthouse opens itself onto the public domain through its large glass entrance. This allows public users and passersby alike to understand and view the inner workings of the courthouse. This view invites the public to both inspect and appreciate the rule of law in their community.
