University of California, Davis, International Center
The project is a high-profile project for the University because it is the first education building on Russell Boulevard, the northern edge of the campus, and the interface with the Davis community. The $23M project is the consolidation of three University departments, previously housed separately, addressing issues related to international studies. The new facility will be “home base” for international students studying here and offer services to assist visiting scholars and those who want to study abroad. The one-, two-, and three-story structure contains social spaces, offices for the three departments, classrooms, conference spaces, a multi-purpose gathering space, a media resource center, and outdoor plaza spaces to extend social opportunities and provide connectivity between key interior uses and the adjacent exterior landscaping.
