West Valley College IS Building
This building houses the college’s information services groups including operations, applications, and computer systems. The main area of focus in the new facility is an upgraded data center.
The building incorporates many sustainable design concepts including proper building orientation, efficient lighting and mechanical systems, natural day lighting for energy conservation and improved work environment, low VOC materials use, along with many other sustainable features and materials.
This project included the design of IT, AV and Electronic Security Systems infrastructure, including inside and outside plant pathways and cabling for interim and permanent facilities, interim and permanent facility data center racks, intrusion detection field devices and audio-visual cabling. Design support work including coordination of ‘hot cut’ options for double move of data center, data center floor layout with customer expansion requirements, seismic server cabinet overturn and cable tray layout to meet DSA and CBC requirements, hot aisle/cold aisle arrangement and coordination of overhead cooling requirements at cold aisle, rack PDU coordination with UPS and generator as well as station cabling of IS department offices and workstation space.
