Columbia College Manzanita Building Modernization
This renovation of the 32,000 square foot student support and academic services building provides a one-stop-shop for the students on campus. Early in the design process, Lionakis met with different user groups and created a bubble diagram demonstrating the preferred departmental adjacencies, emphasizing a better flow and space utilization for the student and administrative functions currently housed in the building. As a result of developing a close working relationship between the College, Students, Community and the Architect team, the final design met the goals and objectives defined during the program phase. The new layout improves circulation and way finding between various departments, provides better entry sequence and traffic flow throughout the building, resulting in improved security view areas and multi-use flexible spaces with smart technology. The building is now a destination for the students and faculty, while providing ample space for community and public events.
