Each year, the Lionakis Foundation selects local charities to invite to our office for a Lunch & Learn event, aiming to learn more about these charities individually. Lionakis employees nominate charities that are important to them, and this is an opportunity for the staff to learn more about the organization, what they do for our community, and how they can get involved. The charities then share information with Lionakis employees about their mission, pillars, and upcoming events that welcome new volunteers with open arms.

Most recently we hosted the Special Olympics of NorCal and River City Food Bank for a joint Lunch & Learn. At this event, the Lionakis employees that nominated these charities set up a chili bar and cupcakes to sell for additional donations to the charities. We also raffled off bowls that were made by local artists which were donated by River City Food Bank. At the end of the lunch, the organizations were each presented with a $5,000 donation from the Lionakis Foundation. Following the Lunch & Learn event, the Special Olympics of NorCal has offered to host Lionakis as a volunteer group at their spring games later this month, and River City Food Bank also offered volunteer days.

These luncheons allow us to help give back to the community, as well as build important connections with groups and charities that are making transformative changes in the Sacramento area. The Lionakis Foundation offers support to our employees in giving back to their favorite organizations by matching up to a $100 donation to a charity of their choice, and by matching their volunteer hours also for up to a $100 donation.
