On November 5, Jonathan McMurtry, Associate Principal, represented Lionakis at the annual Make-A-Wish Foundation’s VIP Appreciations Breakfast, Wake Up for Wishes as we are regular donors both individually and as a company to this wonderful organization. This event thanks the donors for making so many life-changing wishes come true for children throughout the community who are diagnosed with a critical illness. During the breakfast, there is a “big reveal” where a wish is granted to a child. This year’s wish was granted to a young boy with Cystic Fibrosis, a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. His wish was granted to go to France with his family.
Concluding the event, Joyce Raley Teal, the owner of Sacramento-based Raley’s Super Markets, thanked a list of donors for their generosity throughout the year. In particular, several donors were also recognized for their support of the “Wishing Place”; a special place where children can escape the rigors of treatment and tests, and where dreams can become reality. Lionakis also provided the interior design for this project, pictured in the gallery below. One of the donors to the Wishing Place included the Winn family, who ironically enough contributed a generous donation to the Cosumnes River College Winn Center, also a project designed by Lionakis.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a charity that Jonathan and Lionakis take great pride in serving as a donor for every year, and this event is one that is close to our hearts. We look forward to attending next year to see another wish come true!
